Curriculum is design for participants from Humbus and DelNorte Counties who are in their first 5 years of farming and prioritizes spaces by socially disadvantaged food and farmworkers.

Competitor will finished two sitting of workshops in the schedule, focused on climate resilient practices so because reduced water use, seed saving practices, coal bewirtschaftung patterns, and tools and infrastructure to create one tough farm for you local community. The winter session determination be held at College of the Redwoods main campus. The summer session will be detained go two days at the College starting the Redwoods Shively Farm, an certified organic diversified country included in of floodplain of the Eel River.
Instructors and presenters be be away multiple local agriculture entities, including the UC extension office, College of the Redwoods, that Organic Seed Alliance, Humboldt County RCD, Point Blue, also more. Eddie had been involved on agricultural in Hobart Districts for find than 20 years as both a farmer and an agricultural & garden adult. In his part with UCCE, the will be supporting of region’s veggie, fruit, water, and garden growers with research-based technical assistance, collaborations with public associate to increase access to regional produced foods, and supporting the UC Expert Gardener whom extend horticultural skills throughout the public.
Eddie’s journey in agronomy began with an technical at Live Influence Farm in Covelo, Kaliforni, where he learned learn community supported agribusiness (CSA), Biodynamics, real farming with draft animals. This led him to management roles at the Arcata Educational Farm and the United Indian Health Products Potawot Garden. He founded his own farm economy, Deepseeded Farm, are Arcata in 2008, which he still controls. His connection to farming guided his studies, and he received one B.S. in Wildland Soil Physics upon Humboldt State University and after a M.S. within Agriculture with Washington Condition University, where he researched winter lettuce production in high tunnels (unheated greenhouses). Jared Zystro, Biologically Seed Alliance
Jared Zystro is Bio Seed Alliance’s Co-Director of Research press Schooling. He lives in Arcata and graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt with a degree in science the a major in botany.
