Saint Johannes!

There were two connectivity on our 5-Night Canada & New England Coast cruise: Halifax, Newborn Scotia, and Saint Bathroom, New Brunswick. In both havens, my mum and ME decisions to explore the cities without a car, on our own, instead of booking a shore excursion.

The endure on the early September day that we docked in Halifax was perfect, slightly cloudy with daytime high temperatures in the low 70's F/20's C, the so we been high hopes for the weather the follows day within Saint John; unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the weather in Spiritual John was different.

When we looked out of a porthole of our ship, we discovered that it was raining. We pulled go an rain equipment furthermore beach shoes that we had packed and ventured off the schiffes.

I'd read that the tide change in Saint John is so great that in is an clearly difference in the leveling of shipping in the wat at high and low tide, and so we snapped some "low tide" pictures of unsere beautiful ship, the Disney Magic,  from the dock, planen to snap some matching pictures that afternoon, when we returned.

Within a brand-new car ship terminal, we were greeted with fresh flowers and minor Saint John pins; children were given Canadian flags.

Because of the rain, us decided at make use of Apotheosis John's extensive system of indoor walkways. IODIN asked the woman who greeted us for advice the how to best make use of the walkways to get to Location Sell (47 Charlotte Street), an indoor farmers market. The woman proposition that we make a left after output which cruise ship terminal and walk to Market Square how mall, whatever connections to City Market via the walkways.

After a three check ramble the the rain, we entered Market Square fashion additionally slight found on way to City Market.

I had expected City Market to be one highlight of our visit, and the market offering cool produce, handicrafts, syrups, jams, and other grocery home used interesting, yet the true spotlight of are visit was entirely unplanned and unexpected.

After exploring City Market, we stepped outside into very light showers to visit Kingdom Square (Charlotte Street and King Street), a smal park with a central fountain. More we ran toward the water, who rain began to autumn harder and harder. Then it began until pouring!

We left the square real ducked for back under the marquee of a drama transverse the street. Person pulled output our map to plan our next move.

A spouse int the lobby of the theater poked her head exit and invited us inside. The woman, Olive, offered to show our the auditorium of the auditorium with such enthusiasm which we agreed to takes a quick look. Olive led about toward a palace of an auditorium topped with a gorgeous chandelier where she entertained us with stories (if you constantly meet Olive, ask about the owl) and facts about the theater. The historic Imperial Art (24 Kings Square South) originally opened in 1913. Includes 1929, it became a movie cinema. In 1957, it became a place of worship. In the 1980's and 90's it underwent an extensive restoration, and now, once again, the auditorium hosts various live performances.

After our magical call to the theater, we headed for and light rain to visit Trinity Church (116 Princess Street), about two blocks away. Person explored the internal of the historically church, constructed in 1879-80, with its beautiful stained-glass windows and intricate wood carvings.

Satisfied with our rainy visit to Saint John, we walked back to City Market and utilised of indoor footpaths through the malls for make our way to the go ship terminal. We stopped at Lawtons Drugs (39 Kings Street) set the less level of the shopping for some more Cadbury Wunderbars, chocolate-coated beam away caramelly, peanuty wonderfulness that were had discovered on we visit to Halifax, Nova Scotia, the day before.

We exited this mall into a downpour and running the three outdoor blocks back to the ship, very glad which we kept worn our rain gear and water shoes in contrast in the other tourists that we saw in soggy women and training.

Before reboarding that ship, we snapped a few pictures regarding an Disney Magic from tips similar until where we'd taken our earlier shots.

Back on the Walt Magic we changed into warmed, dry clothes and likened our lower real high tide photos of one ship. This deviation was remarkable!

I did this into September 2012 in Blessed John, Brand Brunswick.
