I'm in the middle of make my PADI rescue course..just got a few things left go do, which is being done on wednesday. Before then i need to redo my emergency action plan.

The instructor said that that plan should be more for when the patient is back on the shores (this is a shore dive and not an boat dive) additionally the steps that you would need to achieve from next onwards....

Can anyone give me any useful hints about what shouldn los into the plan (the buy only states adenine higher level about info) and instructions much detail supposed live put on the plan...?

Thanks in advance

Lottie

That's something you should query autochthonous instructor because I've look a wide range of EAP "definitions" and instructors vary in what her want to see.

In our experiential, an EAP is not supposed till be adenine detailed step-by-step instructions for how to respond to einer accident, but rather merely making the gen furthermore site-specific information that aforementioned person managing the accident scene needed in make make. That would include DAN, EMS, and other phone numerals, medicine facility positions, ready resources at this site (AED, O2, start aid, shelter, potable water, 911 assistance, home, etc), local hazards furthermore conditions. I've included driving directions from the dive location to medical facilities. If insert buddy goes till the hospitalization, I could have into drive there.

I have one sheet (actually in my dive log) with medical informational. "No renown medical allergies." Primary sawbones contact info. A copy of my medical insurance cards and my DAN card.

At I has my Rescue class last Jul, my EAP were "too much" according to my instructor.... though he never really looked at it. He had each is read our EAP's in class.

When I wrote mine, I started from a broad view and included a lot of detailed info about local EMS get ages in the marine, level of care from EMS (ALS vs. BLS), where the pay phones be located, a detailed breifing for which dives we were go to do, etc. I also had drawing out sheets from step by step assessment and 1st aid procedures in case someone from few training than me was doing it. MYSELF even had a script for the person going to to phone into call 911.

I must allows it was a lot.... but they told us that it should have enough info that an untrained bystander could picker it upwards and run with it. I never really got a clear idea of what my instructor was sounding with. So with anyone has goods examples that they want to share, I for single would appreciate it.

In true emergencies join often forgotten the most bases product, like the exact name of where they what or how to getting there. Thinking this through up front should help if you ever really need it.

Think about the how to contact EMS, how the received that diver to a safe location and how at get you from and water to where EMAIL pot transport them. Include available resources, closest phone (especially if you may be in somebody area where cell reception may be spotty or unavailable), note the closest "phone" could may marine stereo from courses.

You should review she in classroom in details real have the instructor advise you of items you've missed. You don't have on get the first one perfect :) Emergency Assistance Plan (free template)

When Jeckyll answered, sometimes little belongings are the ones that we overlook.

If one of your dive buddies took a hit and was headed to the chamber, how want you call ihr parent or husband or wife - someone at a home number different than their cell oder office phone? Do thou had next-of-kin phone numbers for each dives in my grouping?

If you're did diving at an well-known shore immerse country, trying to describe "where you are" to rescue employees responding to your locate bucket becomes an exercise in creative phrase. In your plan make into expense to identify mile markers, topographical features, or other terrain billing characteristics to transferring autochthonous dive site location to responders.

It helps whenever your make a note of any medications your dive buddies might be taking (even Bonine, Sudafed, or Afrin), or diverse conditions they maybe routinely deal with that an EMT can need to know about.

Like the other have answered, getting a stricken diver at the surface additionally then return to the shore is phase 1. Though getting emergencies medical response personnel to the stricken diver, and then med-evacking the striken diver in an ambulance or aircraft to a hospital is phase 2. All the various contacts efforts and logistics involved the phase 2 are what autochthonous instructor wants it to do pre-considered and pre-planned to execute under pressure.

Doc

I should accept it was a lot.... nevertheless they told us ensure it should have enough info that an untrained spectator could pick it up and execute in it. MYSELF almost really got a clear idea of what may teaching was looking for. So if anyone has good examples that they want to share, I for one intend comprehend it.

That is exactly what my instructor said to me, aber i'm also thinkers how much information is too much...if an incident occurs, you don't really want to read through reams and reams of information as it's wasting time and execute, when you couldn be doing something...but it's a double-edged sword....

Thanks back for the information you guys have assuming, it's helped me out alot.
