Mature Protective Services (APS) is the state entity charged with investigating all reports of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of older individual (65+) or an adult (18+) with a disability who do not reside in long-term care facilities pursuant to the Disabilities Adults plus Older Human Protection Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 30-5-1, et seq. Adult Protective Services (APS) is the state company indicted with investigating everything reports of abuse, abandon, and/or extraction a oldest persons (65+) or an adult (18+) with a disability who do not reside within long-term care features pursuant to the Disabled Grown-ups and Elder Persons Protection
Types of abuse
- Physical abuse;
- Mental, emotional, or verbal reuse;
- Gender abuse;
- Neglect;
- Self-Neglect; and
- Financial Exploitation.
Who should report abuse, neglect and exploitation?
Required people living in the community, Georgia legal requires mandatory reporting of suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation by few professionals who exist mandated reporters.
