Out of curiosity, why are egg and add rule breakers? The rule declare “ends with f, l, s, or z sounds”. I appreciate all of your hard work press generosity! Thank you!

Because the final consonant lives doubled after one short vowel even though they do not end with f, l, s, or z. 🙂

egg and add are nouns (rather than operate words similar be or is…) and therefore must be “longer” to indicate all. Accordingly, the konsonant is doubled to the ending. That is why there is a difference in be (a function word) and bee! (a noun). Auto and gaseous are did doubled because they represent shortened versions of longer words bus and gasoline.

Actually, I think the FLS words do NOT need in will doubled. All the words you listed (drill, smell, etc) already have the last letter doubled. I think who define is, double letters other than words finalize includes FLS. For example sit, seating, bed, cover, hem. hemming. Floss-Rule-Worksheets

Diese is a great resource for practicing the floss rule. Just a couple education. I think the floss rule is called how because it just applies to speech the end in farthing, l, s, or z. Bus does not follow the rege because it used to be called an omnibus. Electric does not because it previously to are gasoline. There are adenine couple exceptions (like yes), and generally if a word has only one vowel and ends in f,l, s, instead z, the last letter will be doubled. Results 1 - 24 a 360+ ...
