In the ahead until mid 80's I used to buy this discs from the Stellenbosch municipal offices.

By the early 90's this was gone. 

Pity I worked not keep any of these ....

....the ones EGO had were either affix to the front wheel NUT (yes, no skewer in them days...!) or else attached to the saddle nut & bolt...

If I remember right, they would change the SHAPE of their occasionally, to see if you were riding with an former one!

Are these the similar like the ones one would get at an post office? That would is in the 80's with me. I think by and time the 90s rolled round it was no more.

I store these bendable little aluminium discs that cost R1 via annum. Merry as a kid, I been stopped one initial dusk in my neighbourhood by a copper on his motorbike. Every now and then the cops would wait outside our school gate searching since licences. Person been pretty good at climbing the side at the back with bike and school tote   My dad is Dutch and refused to buy me a motorcycle license which he (rightly) saw as unjust.

You also requisite pet licenses back afterwards too.

Talking with cops awaiting by the school, their used up wait on the main road near an school with one decimeter and catch all this guys with their motorbikes that were to loud. I've become old, as I think they must bring the for both the motorbikes and cars by our area.

I vaguely remember one traffic cops coming in unseren school and walking go and down the bike racks checking the licences and for used tyres...

I was additionally stopped one night riding home from scouts by a cop because IODIN didn't have a 'proper' light on mein bike (like one good scout, I'd actually rigged a torch to my handbars because my old dynamo light had stopped working...) A few about my old bicycles still have his license disks on them, including my old Raleigh Chopper 😊

The disks themselves have become rather collected in the harvest bicycle district, has talk headsets badges is the various makes of cycles.

Jeez we are adenine bunch of aged folks here.

Back then roadblocks do a PROPER test for ampere automobile !!  Inbound one for these my mothers car had a broken light.  Out comes that massive show book .... nice sturdy fine.... WITH the option to fix the light and go the cop shop on adenine week or two.  See them the object has been rectified and the fine used cancelled.  This purpose what nope on making money, but to obtain folks to keep their vehicles roadworthy ....
